Staff Application and Youth Worker Applications

Youth Protection
2000 Strong Youth for Christ places the greatest importance on creating and providing the most secure environment possible for our youth.  To maintain such and environment we have selected the training and leadership program developed and used by the Boy Scouts of America.

We require all staff members of youth camps and activities to be  registered youth workers and take the Youth Protection training course either on line or the guided presentation discussion version. We require that each person take a refresher course every 24 months.  If you are at least 16 years of age you can apply to become a registered youth worker assistant.  Please complete the same form for this position as well.  We  also require criminal background and sex offender background checks on all staff.  This process begines when you complete the  Youth Worker Registration Form     and email your completed form to team@2000strong.us

While there is no screening techniques that  can identify every potential risk we try to learn all we can about the applicant and their experience working with youth.  Our organization believes it is a privilege to work with youth and we take that privilege very seriously.

We have also adopted and use these policies to protect our youth as well as the counselors.

  • Two-deep leadership.  Two registered adult leader or one registered leader and a other adult or parent are required on all trips and outings.
  • No one-on-one contact. One-on-one contact between adults and youth is not permitted.
  • Respect of Privacy.  Leader must respect the privacy of youth in situations such as changing clothes and taking showers at camp, and intrude only to the extent that health and safety require.  Adults must protect their own privacy in similar situations.
  • Cameras, imaging, and digital devices.  While most campers and leadership use cameras and other imaging devices responsibly, it has become very easy to invade the privacy of indiviuals.  It is inappropriate to use any device capable of recording or transmitting visual images in restrooms, or other areas where privacy es expected by participants.
  • Separate accommodations.  Males and Females are required to have seprate sleeping, shower and restroom facilities. At no time will they be allowed in each others cabins alone.
  • Appropriate attire.  Proper clothing for activities is required.
  • Responsibilities. Leaders are responsible for monitoring the behavior of youth and interceding when necessary.  Parents of youth who misbehave should be informed and asked for assistance in dealing with it.  Youth and leaders will not take part in physical violence, hazing, bulling, theft, verbal insults, drugs, and alcohol, these activities have no place in our camp and other activities.

Digital Privacy has become a key issue in our society therefore we must address the use of digital devices responsibly and educate leaders and youth about the appropriate use of cell phones and cameras as a good safety and privacy issue.  Sending sexually explicit photographs or videos electronically or "sexting" by cell phones is a form of texting being practiced primarily by young adults and children young as middle-school age.  Sexting is neither safe nor private, nor an appropriate form of communication and can lead to severe consequences for the sender and the receiver. It is not allowed at our camp or other activities.
